Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Mix until smooth. Slowly add hot water (batter will be thin).
4. Pour batter evenly into pans. Bake 30–35 minutes. Cool completely.
5. For cream filling: whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
6. For ganache: heat cream to a simmer, pour over chocolate chips, let sit 5 mins, then stir until smooth.
7. To assemble: layer cake and cream filling. Top with ganache and chill until set.
